Bennett Associates Win Kawasaki Contract

Kawasaki Heavy Industries has recently won the contract to supply 2 earth pressure Tunnel Boring Machines for contract 220 of the Channel Tunnel rail link.

Bennett Associates has been selected by Kawasaki to provide the design of the back-up system for the TBMs. The backup system integrates the following aspects:

• Handling of excavated material.
• Handling of the concrete segment to line the tunnel.
• Integration of services including hydraulic, electrical, compressed air, water systems and fire systems.

For the next few months two Kawasaki engineers will be working from our offices in Rotherham, alongside the Bennetts team.
