Bennett Associates would like to welcome back their Year in
Industry students during the forthcoming Christmas break.
Students Vicky Barker, Alison Sanderson and David Atkinson all
spent a year working with Bennett Associates, either before or during their
engineering degree courses.
David Atkinson won the regional heat of the Year in Industry
Contribution to the Business Awards 2007, and went through to the National
finals in London. Mike Turner, Engineering Director of Bennett Associates, said
"David has made a valuable contribution to many projects. We expect a great deal
from our Year in Industry students and in return they give us as much commitment
as any other member of staff.”
Bennett Associates has a long and successful association with the
Royal Academy of Engineering's Year in Industry scheme. Bennetts’ have welcomed
16 students since becoming involved with the scheme in 1994. The current Year in
Industry student, Paul Matthewman, is working on several projects alongside Mike
Turner. Two previous students, Ian Hylands and Felicity Clement, are now full
time staff members and are enjoying working on a variety of projects.
The company has a reputation for creative and innovative
engineering solutions. Much of Bennett Associates' success can be put down to
its unconventional approach to engineering. Areas of expertise include
tunnelling machinery, movable bridge structures, footbridges, aerospace, nuclear
and materials handling. Bennett Associates’ extremely broad base allows students
to explore various specialities and provides real work experience in a creative
and liberating environment.
