Our detail design knowledge of mechanical handling systems, including cranes, winches and bespoke manipulators, has been used across many market sectors including:

  • Nuclear Lifting including seismic validation
  • Mine & shaft hoisting
  • Dock side
  • Bespoke and general purpose cranes
  • Design of winches for the lifting of moveable bridges and Ro-Ro’s
  • Steelworks cranes and mechanical handling (including hot metals)
  • Power plant
  • Offshore

International and National Standards used in the designs include (but not limited to):

  • BS 2573, Parts 1 & 2: Rules for the design of cranes
  • Code for Lifting of Appliances in a Marine Environment: Lloyds Register
  • Design Guide for Winding Engine Brakes: National Coal Board
  • FEM: Rules for the design of hoisting appliances

In addition to the design and production of manufacturing drawings the following tasks can be undertaken:

  • Third party checks of equipment are undertaken
  • Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA)
  • Risk Assessments to establish SIL rating requirements to BS EN 62061/ BS EN 61508
