Job Summary
Mechanical Engineering at Atkins Rotherham provides opportunities for aspiring individuals to deliver excellent technical solutions for our clients. We are offering opportunities as a Mechanical Engineer for you to utilise your expertise in problems solving throughout the lifecycle of projects, from early concept through to the detailed design.

Diverse projects such as the Airbus A380 top skin forming facility, the Falkirk Wheel, and backup systems to some of the world’s largest tunnelling machines, together with an increasing focus on the energy sector will provide you with a sense of some of the mechanical engineering challenges we undertake.
Job Details
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Ideally chartered or working toward MIMechE
- Have an in-depth understanding of the principals of engineering
- Translating clear desire to translate client specifications into solutions
- Able to demonstrate an inquisitive nature and enjoy providing solutions to problems
- Experience of undertaking calculations and able to interpret current codes and standards
- Capable of working within a collaborative team environment and able to share solutions to problems based on your own experiences and challenges
- Experience of working to deadlines to complete tasks whilst ensuring a high level of output
- Able to effectively communicate ideas
- Our team makes extensive use of the latest engineering software tools and significant development opportunities are available in this area
- Candidates should however highlight experience that they have in using these tools to aid in solving of engineering problems
Responsibilities
As a mechanical engineer your key responsibilities are as follows:
- Involved in the full design process from layout / concept through to delivery
- Scoping project definition
- Preparing conceptual and design schemes, together with technical specifications
- Developing solutions, including preparation of drawings, calculations and Finite Element Analyses
- Ensuring that projects are delivered on time to the technical specification required by the overall project manager
- Producing and checking details designs and engineering drawings
