Job Description
We need senior mechanical engineers who can offer technical excellence in providing overall solutions to our clients needs. To succeed you will need to have vision, capable of driving through solutions from concept all the way through detailed design.

Clients see our lead engineers as professional mechanical engineering experts with a mix of engineering skills, who can draw from both their knowledge and experience to visualise a concept, present the design, sum up the challenges and propose a way through to a viable solution. As a lead engineer you will be able to bring the best out of a project team demonstrating your credibility to offer solutions and develop and challenge the ideas of your colleagues, whilst closely aligning this to our clients brief.
Of course we want lead engineers who are familiar with the latest standards and codes, but we also want much more. You will have a full mix of technical expertise, driven people skills, able to sell a solution to our stakeholders and be commercially astute to manage project finance and scale up multi-million pound biding opportunities.

Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities as one of our lead mechanical engineers include the following:
- Able to provide support and to inspire colleagues on technical mechanical engineering issues
- Responsible for meeting project deadlines, and for ensuring that the technical detail is produced to a high standard and is line with the client’s specification.
- Able to scope project plans in line with the client’s requirements
- Involved in the full design process from layout / concept through to delivery of detail design
- Scoping project definition
- Preparing conceptual and design schemes
- Preparation of technical specification
- Preparation of detail designs, including all calculation and supervision of production of final drawings
- Ensuring that projects are delivered on time to the technical specification required by the overall project manager
- Checking detail designs and engineering drawings
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Able to demonstrate technical expertise up to Chartered Mechanical Engineering level
- Experience of providing innovative engineering solutions to problems
- Have an in-depth understanding of the principals of engineering
- Experience of translating client specifications into solutions
- An understanding of project finance
- Experience of developing engineering talent and developing engineers to progress within an organisation.
- Able to demonstrate an inquisitive nature and enjoy providing solutions to problems
- Experience of undertaking calculations and able to interpret current UK and international codes and standards by further translating those into a client solution.
- An understanding of finite element analysis and capability of interpreting results
- Capable of working within a collaborative team environment and able to share and develop solutions to problems based on your own experiences and challenges
- Experience of working to deadlines to complete tasks whilst ensuring a high level of output
- Able to communicate ideas through engineering drawings and to inspire others within the organisation.
